Week 7 - Altered Model 1:50

For the altered room model I used box board (a stronger cardboard) at a scale of 1:50 to make it more manageable but still big enough to change up the layout noticeably.

The changes I made to the room were: adding a door on the opposing wall that opens out onto a balcony, which helped with letting in more sunlight and allowed for a more natural area of the room; and extending the wardrobe to make it more a walk-in closet and save space in the actual room layout.

I kept the actual structure of the whole room quite similar to the original as I wanted to alter it in a  way that might actually be possible within the environment it is currently in (university apartment).

I found the photographs quite hard to take to really capture the atmosphere of the space and the effects of lighting since the model was so small but personally looking into the room, you can gauge the intended outcome far better.

I then decided to add more natural light by cutting a part of the ceiling to form a skylight. This ended up opening the room a lot more and giving a much more open and light sense in the room.

Here you can see where I actually cut the ceiling and added a clear plastic to represent glass.
