Observing light in 1:50 altered room model

Image
Natural Light  -  1:50 Altered room Model   To observe the natural light and how it could be controlled within my 1:50 altered room model, I photographed the model on each hour from 1 pm - 6 pm. The model was sometimes hard to photograph with the white sheet as  background as sometimes it would actually block the sunlight coming into the room - painting a somewhat unrealistic painting. All photographs are positioned with the balcony facing north.  North Indicator at 1pm 1pm 1pm 2pm Sunlight  2pm perspective with outside shrubbery 3pm North Indicator  3pm  4pm 5pm North Indicator 3pm 4pm North Indicator 5pm natural light  5pm natural light with white background 6pm perspective with ceiling light on

Week 7 - Altered Model 1:50

For the altered room model I used box board (a stronger cardboard) at a scale of 1:50 to make it more manageable but still big enough to change up the layout noticeably. The changes I made to the room were: adding a door on the opposing wall that opens out onto a balcony, which helped with letting in more sunlight and allowed for a more natural area of the room; and extending the wardrobe to make it more a walk-in closet and save space in the actual room layout. I kept the actual structure of the whole room quite similar to the original as I wanted to alter it in a  way that might actually be possible within the environment it is currently in (university apartment). I found the photographs quite hard to take to really capture the atmosphere of the space and the effects of lighting since the model was so small but personally looking into the room, you can gauge the intended outcome far better. Week 7 - 1:10 Paper and Cardboard Models

1:10 Cardboard model - I definitely found the cardboard easier to use due to it's sturdier properties and ability to bend without falling over completely. Bird's eye view Natural light  Artificial Light from ceiling
